A South Dakota jury found Joseph Patterson guilty of the murder of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson’s two-year-old son.

To add insult to injury, the murderer’s friends and family unleashed profanities at the jury and caused a ruckus upon hearing the guilty verdict on charges of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and aggravated battery on a child under three years old.

Patterson’s defense claimed that Tyrese Ruffin died from eating strawberry fruit snacks. The prosecution pointed out that strawberry fruit snacks don’t cause brain bleeding, a supposition accepted by the jury.

Patterson babysat his girlfriend’s child when he died. An expert witness testified that Ruffin received four blows to the head that led to his death.

Adrian Peterson, sidelined for fifteen games last season after a Texas prosecutor pursued him for disciplining another son with a switch, became a father for the sixth time on Sunday. He learned of his late son just two months before his passing and only met the boy on his death bed. After sitting for most of 2014, Peterson leads the NFL in rushing in 2015.

Patterson faces a possible life sentence.
