D’Angelo Russell offered an apology through the media for making a recording of an engaged teammate making boasts about pursuing women outside of his relationship but the rookie guard insists he did not leak the video to a celebrity gossip site.

“I am sick,” the Los Angeles Lakers rookie told the Yahoo Sports’ The Vertical. “I am sorry about recording the video. I can’t repeat myself enough on that: I am sorry I recorded that video. I feel horrible. I wish this never happened.”

Teammate Nick Young likely wishes the same thing. Australian rapper Iggy Azelea reportedly considers calling off the couple’s wedding plans.

“I know that it will take some time to regain trust and confidence,” Russell explained to The Vertical. “I hope they know I would never intentionally hurt someone – and know how horrible I feel.”

Teammates shunned Russell in response to his breach of locker room etiquette. ESPN reports that he sat alone at a table during a team breakfast and Lou Williams immediately got up after Russell sat next to him in the locker room.

“I will work hard to earn back the trust of my teammates and those who were impacted by this,” the second pick in last year’s draft insists. “I’ll do whatever it takes.”
