Former Notre Dame star Tim Brown’s 1987 Heisman Trophy was purchased for $435,000 at auction, TMZ Sports reported.

Brown won the trophy during his famed 1987 season when he caught 137 passes for 2,493 yards and 22 touchdowns.

The trophy sold in 2017 but the owner began negotiating with Goldin Auctions to put it up for public auction, TMZ noted.

The Brown Heisman Trophy just jumped into first place as the most expensive Heisman ever sold at auction. “Rashaan Salaam’s 1994 trophy sold in 2017 for $399k, Charles White’s 1979 trophy went for $184k in 2000, and O.J. Simpson’s went for $255k in 1999,” TMZ reported.

With all this money flying around, the Heisman Trust started forcing trophy winners to sign a “no sale” contract starting in the year 1999. So, players who won the honor after that are not allowed to sell their trophy.
