Country singer Jake Owen recently said that he confronted golf pro Phil Mickelson over the golfer’s much-hyped match with Tiger Woods, but Mickelson flipped the singer a C-note and told him to go “f*ck” himself.

Owen told Barstool Sports that he was at golfer Jordan Spieth’s wedding when he saw Mickelson sitting at a table. He said he couldn’t resist telling the golf star what he thought of the The Match.

“I gotta go tell this guy what I think,” Owen said of the golf match.

“So I walked over to him, and I was like, ‘Hey Phil, you owe me fu**ing $29.99 … for wasting four hours of my life with the sh**iest golf I’ve ever seen,'” Owen claimed he told Mickelson. “You guys hyped this whole thing up about this big match, you guys couldn’t even make three birdies between the two of you.’ I’m like, I want my $29.99 back and fu**ing apologize to me for some sh**y golf.”

Owen then said that without skipping a beat, Mickelson reached into his pocket, pulled out a $100 and flipped it to the singer saying, “Yeah, I won 90,000 of these yesterday. Take $100 and go f**k yourself.”

If that isn’t funny enough for you, Mickelson has confirmed the story.

The golf star jumped to his Twitter account to say only “True Story” and added a smiley face.

Of course, a lot of people were unhappy with The Match.

Thousands paid their $29.99 to view the game between Mickelson and Tiger Woods, but before things got underway technical problems put a hitch in the broadcast. The problems were so persistent for the pay side of the broadcast that Turner and others flipped the game to free viewing and refunded the $29.99 to customers.

The TV problems didn’t hurt Mickelson in the wallet, though. He won The Match and the $9 million purse that came with it.

The game was neck-and-neck with Mickelson leading until the 17th hole when Woods tied up with a birdie from the edges of the green of the par-3 hole. Both went on to birdy the par-5 18th. The pair were tied by the final hole of the regular round and so continued hitting until one came out a clear winner. They kept pace for three more holes until the 22nd when Mickelson finally pulled ahead.
