The Washington State Senate will hold a session on Tuesday afternoon regarding public safety at Evergreen State College.

Following a protest effort that forced Biology Professor Bret Weinstein to move both his family and class sessions off campus, the Washington State Senate’s Law and Justice Committee will meet on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the future of public safety at the college.

Amongst those scheduled to speak at the session include Evergreen State President George Bridges, Professors Bret Weinstein and Mike Paros, and Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste.

“The Evergreen protests have raised concerns nationwide, among liberals and conservatives alike, about the behavior of student activists toward those who have opposing opinions,” said Committee Chair Mike Padden. “Our inquiry will be more narrowly focused, about the public safety challenges this unrest has created.”

State Representative Matt Manweller, who will speak during the session, condemned “social justice warriors” on his Twitter account on Monday. Manweller was sharing a unanimous Supreme Court ruling from Monday that reaffirmed that even offensive speech is protected under the First Amendment.
