MONTERREY, Nuevo Leon — Trusting law enforcement officials in border cities has become a complex matter, more after an elite, anti-kidnapping officer from Nuevo Leon was recently arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle while he was on medical leave.
Jose Pilar Torres Cordoba, 32, is a member of the elite police unit who was recently arrested along with 28-year-old Carlos Eduardo Ramirez de Leon when they reportedly tried to leave behind a stolen Ford Escape that was breaking down. The arrest took place in the town of Juarez, Nuevo Leon, a town that in the past was a key stronghold for Los Zetas drug cartel.
Torres was booked into the local jail where he told authorities that he was on medical leave from duty. Nuevo Leon officials have not revealed any additional information on the arrest, nor about his work history.
In July, Breitbart Texas reported on the arrest of detective Brenda Lizeth “La Galleta” Fernandez Perales, a state law enforcement official who led a kidnapping crew and was behind the abduction and extortion of a local businessman who they threatened with arrest, Breitbart Texas reported. Prior to her stint as a detective, Fernandez also worked in the elite anti-kidnapping unit for Nuevo Leon.
