Jim Wallis: Fox, Conservatives Behind Assassination of Obama's Religion

Jim Wallis, the Founder and Editor of Sojourners’ Magazine, had this to say of conservatives and the President:

“Fox News has been the assassin of Obama’s religion … a religious assasination of Barack Obama by the far right.”

I wonder if Jim Wallis has ever said to President Obama: “Hey! You know if you made it a point to attend church services regularly, observe the National Day of Prayer as a gesture of goodwill, and respect life where it concerns abortion, maybe people would ask less questions about your faith?

Oh, but you see, Wallis can’t do that because he’s a fashion Christian. The Word is his commodity and the less of it you read, the more he sells. Wallis is a man who regularly persecutes Republicans of faith because they’re not Democrats. He’ll continue to do it to, now that he’s admittedly bankrolled by George Soros and because the media loves a token Christian to put on television and bastardize Scripture and stomp all over the faith-based tenets to which Christians subscribe.

Wallis says:

“There wouldn’t be a tea party if there wasn’t a black man in the White House.”

Because opposition to increased government control and advocacy for greater opportunity and more liberty are the new racism. Here, Wallis breaks one of the very commandments off of which he makes money by pretending to know:

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

This is the biggest criticism I have of Christianity – the people who claim it. The biggest threats to faith aren’t anything outside of it, they come bearing the name. It’s why I find it especially important to call it out; also why I find it especially repulsive when people who crow the loudest about being Christians and use it as a money-making scheme utterly betray the faith when not on camera or in a crowd. People like Wallis style themselves as shepherds – and as a quasi faith-based journalist with his magazine. He’s exactly the sort of religious figure that the left is OK with – because he hates the right.

I’m no judge and jury, but I know when something is done out of the Word and when it’s not. While I’m thumping my Bible, allow me to impart some Biblical notes to brother Wallis, so that he may be edified and go forth and sin no more:

Depart from me ye workers of inequity, I never knew you.”

– Matthew 7:23

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”

– Matthew 7:15

And for good measure, one of my favorite songs, from A Capella, whose message seems entirely tailored for such behavior as Wallis’s.

Can I get an amen?
