The President is used to flexing his muscles and storming the public airwaves whenever he wants to sell skeptical Americans on socialist economic policies. The White House and media have before refused the GOP an opportunity to present a dissenting response, thus squelching the presentation of a balanced debate.
The GOP insisted on a response this go-round after the President’s fifth (or sixth?) press conference in as many days. CBS’s Mark Knoller reports that it was a response not wanted by the White House:
When you feel the need to manipulate the media (and allow the media to exploit the biased relationship for access) in order to sell an overwhelmingly unpopular policy — just like with the unpopular health control law — then perhaps voters aren’t as “sold” on your plan as you claimed a week ago.
