White House Won't Say if it Has Confidence in Shinseki

White House press secretary Jay Carney refused to answer repeated questions from ABC’s Jon Karl, about whether President Barack Obama had confidence in Veteran Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki at the White House briefing on Thursday.  Carney kept attempting to redirect Karl to Obama’s earlier remarks and referencing Shinseki’s previous accomplishments, before accusing Karl of “wordplay.” During the questioning, Karl pointed out that Obama did not directly say anything about his confidence in Shinseki, and wondered why Carney refused to answer a “very simple yes or no question.”
