Obama Accepts Shinseki Resignation

Friday morning after meeting with Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki at the White House, President Barack Obama announced he has accepted his resignation.

Obama stood by Shinseki through the month of May as the waiting list scandal grew but as calls from members of both parties grew and the Inspector General report was released this week confirmed secret waiting list Obama could no longer protect the embattled department head.

The president named the current deputy VA secretary Sloan D. Gibson to run the department temporarily.
