A pre-kindergarten student began writing with a different hand than normal one evening, which his concerned mother found out her son was forced to write with his right hand, despite being left-handed because he was told it was bad.
Alisha Sands said her 4-year-old son Zayde Sands had to start writing with his right hand and his Oakes Elementary teacher even sent home a letter and an article explaining how left-handedness is associated with evil, the devil and unluckiness.
The school principal has been notified of the situation and is investigating, although the teacher is yet to face any form of punishment. Sands plans to transfer her son to another pre-kindergarten class and she plans to file a complaint with the Oklahoma Board of Education.
