Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day,” host Chris Cuomo challenged Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s spokesperson Katrina Pierson on Trump’s language and attitude towards reporters.

Partial transcript as follows:

CUOMO: Katrina, when you don’t like what I say, do you call me an idiot? No, why not?

PIERSON: Do I? No.

CUOMO: Why is it okay for Donald Trump to do it? But not for you to do it right now with me? You don’t like the reporting, here’s your chance to call me something like that, why is it okay for him to do it?

PIERSON: Well, it depends, if you’re attacking me personally, I might call you an idiot, but you don’t do that, and we are talking about the issues. Mr. Trump has been attacked personally by many in the media.

CUOMO: “Mr. Trump, you’re an idiot, aren’t you?” Nobody has ever asked that! To invite this kind of invective.

PIERSON: Actually, Chris, there was a debate where he was actually asked if his campaign was a clown act, so of course he has been attacked personally by the media. And you see it in social media too — by reporters. It is not just Mr. Trump that doesn’t trust the media, believes that they are dishonest.

CUOMO: That is absolutely true.
