Sarah Huckabee Sanders: White House ‘Would Certainly Support’ NFL Requiring Players to Stand for National Anthem

Tuesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded to the report that the National Football League was considering requiring players to stand for the National Anthem, saying the White House “would certainly support” it.

“I think we would certainly support the NFL coming out and asking players to stand, just as the president has done,” said Sanders.

“Our position hasn’t changed on that front,” she continued. “We’re glad to see the NFL taking positive steps in that direction.”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent out a memo Tuesday to owners explaining that the conduct during the National Anthem will be discussed when the owners meet next week.
