On Feb. 13, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) attacked Republicans threatening a filibuster of Chuck Hagel's nomination for Secretary of Defense and set a vote to end debate for Friday.

Calling it "a shame," Reid said, "This the first time in the history of our country that a presidential nominee for Secretary of Defense has been filibustered."

However, Republicans see nothing shameful about the action, and have made it clear they simply aren't comfortable going forth with the confirmation until Hagel discloses sources on his income that are suspected to come from foreign benefactors.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), has specifically pointed to concerns that Hagel may have given speeches to "extreme and radical groups," and he wants to both to see the speeches and find out what kind of compensation those groups may have provided.

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) told Breitbart News that the Republicans have the 41 votes needed to delay Hagel's confirmation.
