House Majority Whip McCarthy: Dems Playing 'Fiscal Jenga'

On Sunday, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press, where he said that Democrats were engaging in “the old Washington fiscal game of Jenga. You try to build as much debt as you can take, as much tax as you can take, until you topple the entire economy.” Jenga is a game using building blocks in which competitors attempt to remove structural components of the base in order to build a higher, less stable tower.

McCarthy pointed out that the House Republican budget would balance the federal budget within ten years, while the Democrats’ proposed budget will not balance at any point in the future. According to McCarthy, “The president has a different belief than we do. He believes deficits don’t matter; we do. This president has never missed on a deadline turning in a March Madness bracket, but four out of five times he’s missed turning in a budget.”
