Tsarnaev Friends Accused of Destroying Evidence 'Idolized' Dzokhar
A young woman who briefly dated Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has claimed two of the three young men who have recently been arrested “idolized” Tsarnaev.
The anonymous young woman from UMass-Dartmouth dated Tsarnaev for two weeks, only breaking off the relationship when he wanted her to come to his room. She stated that Tsarnaev, 19, always had roughly five Russian-speaking friends hanging around him, including two of the three recently-arrested suspects, Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev.
Tazhayakov and Kadyrbayev have been charged with conspiring to destroy emptied fireworks and other evidence that was supposedly left in Tsarnaev's room.
The young woman said Tsarnaev was "adorable," and she immediately stuck to him, but two weeks after they met, things shifted: "He wanted to go further than I did, and that made me uncomfortable."
"I don't think that's necessarily being a terrorist," she said. "I think that's just called being a hands-y teenaged boy."
When she found out that Tsarnaev was arrested, she was shocked: "I was like, there's no way.” She said she only remembered the other young men as "goofy, kind of lackadaisical" freshmen.
