Man with Ties to Boston Bomber Shot and Killed by FBI During Questioning

A man believed to have ties to Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot and killed in Florida on May 22, after he allegedly attacked the FBI agent who was questioning him.

According to NBC News, 27-year old Ibragim Todashev was being interviewed by the FBI agent, “two Massachusetts State Police troopers, and other law enforcement personnel… in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation when a violent confrontation was initiated by [Todashev].”

Todashev allegedly attacked the FBI agent with a knife and was shot and killed as a result. The agent “sustained non-life threatening injuries.”

Earlier in the day, FBI agents said Todashev had confessed to “[playing] a role in a triple murder in 2011… in Waltham, Mass.” They said he attacked the agent late in the night when he was asked to sign a written statement based on his confession.

Todashev is believed to have “connections with radical Chechen rebels.” He drew the attention of law enforcement on May 4, 2013, when he and another shopper got into an altercation over a parking spot at an outlet mall in Orlando, FL.
