Lee Bright: Graham 'a Pinata' on Vulnerable Issues

On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, Lee Bright, a South Carolina state senator who is challenging incumbent Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), said Graham is avoiding live town halls in the state because he is a “pinata when it comes to issues” that make him vulnerable.

Bright told host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon that South Carolinians are “disturbed” by Graham embracing comprehensive immigration reform, John McCain, and support for the Muslim Brotherhood.

“They are disturbed and they are wondering why their senior senator is not in the state during the break,” Bright said, nothing that Graham had gone to Egypt to try to get prisoners affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood released. “He is more concerned about how the Muslim Brotherhood is portrayed.”

Bright said that Graham has raised over $6 million to rehabilitate his image and said the campaign could defeat Graham if they could just raise has as much.

“It’s very telling when you won’t face your constituents,” Bright said, promising to “hammer” Graham and remind South Carolinians of his liberal voting record.

Bright said he was “not a person who hides from my record” and noted his “bulletproof” voting record in the state senate, which he said was  as conservative as former Sen. Jim DeMint’s (R-SC) in the Senate. He said that he has been criticized for being too conservative and supporting legislation to nullify Obamacare, which he called the death knell for the economy. Bright said he endorsed Ron Paul during the 2012 primary and felt the government should be shut down to defund Obamacare.

Bright said he would assure South Carolinians that his conservative record is proof that he will not go to Washington and change–like Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)–and support bills like comprehensive immigration reform.
