Museum Head: 'General Understanding' Lamar Alexander Wasn't Going to Run

The head of the Tennessee State Museum says that it was understood that Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) was not going to run for reelection, which is why she was not worried about the political ramifications of a traveling exhibit promoting his historic career.

But as was the case with Sen. Thad Cochran in Mississippi, that likelihood changed as supporters urged him to run again – keeping the seat safe for Republicans.

Even though Alexander decided to run for reelection, the exhibit was still scheduled to move forward.

But those plans were canceled after an investigation by NewsChannel5 revealed emails between the museum and Alexander’s campaign about timing and funding for the exhibit.

A Tennessee independent candidate for Senate is now calling for an investigation into the matter, filing a complaint with the Federal Election Commission about the project.
