You don't have to be a cultural conservative to be alarmed about the path Madonna's child, Lourdes, may be on.
The 12-year-old offspring of the Material Woman and ex-beau Carlos Leon has led a fairly private life up until now - by celebrity kiddie standards.
That's no easy feat considering the circles her mamma sashays in. But that appears to be changing and it's hard not to cringe at the possibilities.
Apparently, the hosts over at "The Today Show" were ooing and ahhing over young Lourdes recently, according to Entertainment Weekly's April 10 issue which dubbed the youngster as "a poised style star in the making." And Momma Madge herself seems prepped for her daughter to break out on her own.
She once told "Today" staffers Lourdes tends to "walk into a room and demand that everyone pay attention to her."
Who knows where she picked up that attitude from?
If this behavior smacks of narcissism, then you better go pick up Dr. Drew Pinksy's new book, "The Mirror Effect: How Celebrity Narcissism is Seducing America."
The good doctor blows the whistle on tabloid culture - and its impact on impressionable youth.
For now, let's hope Lourdes gets to enjoy a little bit more of her childhood before the paparazzi - and tabloid press - descend upon her.
