New Lifetime Movie Focuses on Jesus' Early Years

Hollywood’s fascination with Biblical themes will continue thanks to a new project from Lifetime.

The network for women is producing a film that examines Jesus Christ, the early years.

Titled The One, the movie hails from Leslie Greif, the producer of History’s blockbuster Hatfields & McCoysminiseries, and his Thinkfactory Media. Written by 2013 Nicholl Fellowship Winners Frank DeJohn and David Alton Hedges, The One is described as a coming-of-age story exploring Jesus’ early life and formative years as he comes to learn he is the Son of God and is destined for greatness.

Deadline.com reports the film’s producers vow “to stay true to the spirit of Jesus’ image as chronicled in The Bible.

The telefilm comes on the heels of both The Bible, the smash miniseries from The History Channel and Son of God, the upcoming film culled from material taken during that production.
