Up until last week you could tune into Verizon Fios and find movies like Daddy Likes Em Young, Club Teeny Bopper 10, Deep in Daughters and A Mother’s Sons. Along with such child-themed porn movies Verizon also offered movies that are racially and ethnically charged including Latina Teen Newbies and Massive Black Butts.
But all these titles are gone–at least for now.
Porn Harms, a program of Morality in Media, is claiming victory after running a campaign to shame the Verizon CEO and board of directors to take such movies off of their On Demand offerings that fatten the coffers of Verizon stockholders. Porn Harms named Verizon as one of their annual Dirty Dozen, corporations that are friendly and supportive of pornography, much of it illegal.
In February Verizon actually tried to defend its porn offerings.
Writing for Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam, John McArtney, Director of Global Citizenship wrote to Porn Harms:
Verizon is proud to have built technology platforms that enable consumers to access a broad range of content over a wide array of devices platforms and networks.” He said, “This explosion of choice is a tremendous benefit to consumers…” and that “Verizon believes that consumers have benefited tremendously from access to almost unlimited sources of content and from have the choice to access that content when, where and how they want it.
Porn Harms put the names and phone numbers of the Verizon board on their website demanding the movies be taken down. Last week Porn Harms noticed that all the movies they complained about are now gone. That is not to say that pornography is off of Fios On-Demand or that porn cannot be accessed through Verizon provided Internet and Website, but for now Porn Harms is claiming at least a narrow victory.
Pat Trueman, CEO of Morality in Media, worked in the U.S. Department of Justice for many years where he and his colleagues successfully prosecuted purveyors of obscene pornography. He complains that most of the porn seen these days is obscene and therefore illegal. The current administration shows no interest in pursuing any prosecutions.
For those Verizon customers who may miss Massive Black Butts and Daddy Likes Em Young, Verizon Fios On Demand still has Big Booty Black 3Somes, Mommy Does it Better 2 and lots more.
