Within minutes of President Obama’s statement today demagoguing the upcoming sequestration, both Politico and NBC News’s First Read were up with reports. And like the good, little sycophant stenographers they are, both news outlets headlined Obama’s dire warnings about the effect looming budget cuts might have on our already faltering economy.
Neither outlet, though, bothered to mention one small, crucial fact: that Obama not only signed on to the sequestration deal, he proposed it.
When you need not fear the media holding you accountable to inconvenient facts, you can claim the sky will fall and that it will all be the other party’s fault without fear of a media backlash. The lapdogs just write it all down and pass it along as fact.
Scary times.
