At Least 49 Dead on Anniversary of Egyptian Revolution

On the anniversary of Egypt's 2011 revolt protesters clashed with police, resulting in "at least" 49 deaths and 247 injuries in a 24 hour time period.

These protests come three years after the Arab Spring birthed a revolution that removed Hosni Mubarak from power.

According to Channel News Asia, the Egyptian interior ministry reported that "1,079 people had been arrested during the [January 25th anniversary] demonstrations."

The protesters are rallying in support of "deposed Islamist president Mohamed Morsi."

CCTV reports that Morsi supporters "have been holding protests denouncing his removal as 'a military coup' and calling for  his reinstatement."
