McCain: Putin Should Be 'Nervous' After Ukraine Unrest

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said that Russian President Vladimir Putin should be nervous after the recent unrest in Ukraine, and a partition of the country would be unacceptable.

Appearing on CBS’s Face the Nation after a peace deal in which Putin-backed leader Viktor Yanukovich relinquished power to halt the widespread violence and unrest, McCain said that the Ukrainian people had to determine their own future and a “partition of Ukraine is totally unacceptable.” He said that message had to be sent to Putin.

After McCain said that the Russian people are “tired of the crony capitalism and the kleptocracy that governs Russia today,” he said of Putin, “If I were him, I would be little nervous.”
