Not that Crazy… Are They?

Chance Warmack, the NFL prospect out of Alabama, is a phenomenal football player. In fact, he might be the best player available in this month’s Draft.

However, Warmack is a guard, a position that is important but does not usually merit high draft picks or high dollars in free agency. Despite that fact, the Kansas City Star is speculating that the Kansas City Chiefs could shock everyone and select Warmack first overall.

Typically a talented guard might find his way into the bottom of the first round, but it would be unheard of for the former Alabama lineman to be taken so highly. While the 6’2,” 317 pound guard plays with a nasty streak and is a mauler in the run game, he certainly does not merit a number one overall pick.

The Chiefs, who have enjoyed a solid offseason thus far that has seen them add Alex Smith and Dunta Robinson among others to their roster, bring in Andy Reid to coach the team, and keep stars Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Albert, are more likely to go with offensive tackles Eric Fisher or Luke Joeckel with the #1 selection.

Ezekiel Ansah, Star Lotulelei, Sharrif Floyd, and Dee Milliner are a few other prospects who could conceivably get consideration if the Chiefs hold onto the pick.
