It is beginning to look like Jason Kidd will not be retired for long. The future Hall of Famer is reportedly the frontrunner to be the next head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.
Looking to make a rare immediate transition from player to head coach, Kidd expressed interest in the job immediately upon retirement, and Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports has reported that the elite point guard could be given the job by the end of the week.
Brian Shaw, the Pacers assistant, and Lionel Hollins, the former coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, could still be in the running for the coveted position.
As a player, Kidd had rare rebounding ability from the point guard position, possessed incredible court vision, was a tenacious defender, and was a capable scorer. He would likely bring immediate credibility as a coach following a successful career that saw him lead the Mavericks (twice), Suns, Nets, and Knicks to being consistent winners during his time with each franchise.
