NBA Stars Steph Curry, Chris Paul Promote Obamacare in CA

NBA basketball superstars Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers and Step Curry of the Golden State Warriors joined Kaiser Permanente to promote Obamacare in California on Monday.

Kaiser enlisted Paul and Curry as part of its "Own Now" campaign.

“We can reach young adults,” Paul said. “We’re with kids all day, every day, and they’re watching our games, and we have an influence, so we have an opportunity to use our voice.”

The Obamacare rollout has been marred by glitches and malfunctioning websites that are even making it difficult for people to browse the various plans let alone successfully enroll in health insurance plans.

The Obama administration attempted to partner with sports leagues like the NBA and the NFL to promote Obamacare but backed off after public backlash. Other sports teams--like the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers--have worked with the Obama administration to promote Obamacare in their respective states.

"Emergencies are not the only time health coverage is important," Curry said. "Coverage is important for your overall health and well-being. It is difficult to get the most out of life if you're unprepared when something goes wrong."
