NY Giants Co-Owner's Nephew Charged with Arson
He told police he started the fires because bikers were revving their engines in the middle of the night and setting off car alarms, the New York Post reported
Mara was allegedly caught in the early hours of Tuesday when a security guard at the nearby 69th Regimental Armory on Lexington Avenue saw him setting the fires in Gramercy Park.
He is charged with three counts of arson and was released on $40,000 bail.
Mara works for Major League Baseball as a coordinator of on-field operations. One of his duties is to assist with disciplinary actions. His father Stephan was once arrested after attacking a Philadelphia Eagles fan on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange after the fan taunted him about a game the Eagles won against the Giants. John Mara's nephew, John, was also once arrested after assaulting someone at a New Years Eve party.
