WH: Not Raising Debt Ceiling Holds 'Full Faith And Credit' Of US 'Hostage To An Ideological Agenda'
Jay Carney: "Nobody in their right mind would want to go through what we went through last summer -- summer of 2011 -- where holding the full faith and credit of the United States hostage to an ideological agenda proved disastrous to our economy and especially to the American people and the middle-class. That political strategy resulted in significant drop in consumer confidence -- it had a series of negative effects on the economy."
