Priebus Announces Cleveland for RNC in 2016

In an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Happening Now,” Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus made it official and declared Cleveland, OH would be the site for the 2016 Republican National Convention.

“It’s going to be in Cleveland in 2016,” Priebus said. “The Republican National Committee has chosen Cleveland and we couldn’t be more excited. I think that it is a city that is on the rise. We’re excited about it. They’re building entire lakefront out. I have to tell you if you haven’t been to Cleveland lately, it’s a real surprise how beautiful it is down by that lake. And we’re excited about bringing the RNC to Cleveland in 2016.”

Priebus said he anticipated a date in June or July for fundraising purposes, but added that Cleveland venues and Ohio’s electoral importance made Cleveland the ultimate choice.
