Palin-phobia repeats first as tragedy, then as farce

In response to Serious You Guys There’s No Leftist Bias In the Media At All:

Wow, Ace, that’s quite a find!  This looks almost as good as that movie where there were Nazis hiding on the Moon, and Sarah Palin led an international space fleet to take them down.  Except this looks slightly less plausible.

Needless to say, a book like this would be savaged as a hate crime if written about Obama or Hillary Clinton.  You certainly wouldn’t find any vaguely reputable publication coming within a million miles of granting it a seal of approval.  But that’s how this little game works.  That’s how we got Bush assassination fantasies treated as edgy art by the same people who want to destroy impudent rodeo clowns before they can organize a bovine hit squad to run Obama down in the streets.  The seal of approval doesn’t have to be energetic endorsement – just a wafer-thin veneer of respectability, so the lefty hate machine can keep churning, pumping toxic waste into the general culture… where everybody sorta knows the people hated by the Left are sinister kooks, but nobody can say exactly why.  It’s happening to Ted Cruz right now.

There’s also the hyperbolic paranoia about that perpetually imminent Christian theocratic takeover, which I recall nutjobs like Andrew Sullivan wetting themselves over on a regular basis before Obama subjugated organized religion by stealth-editing the First Amendment.  We got a fresh dose of religious paranoia during the Romney campaign, leading me to wonder exactly what our prospective Mormon overlords were going to make us do, how much it would differ from what our prospective Catholic or evangelical overlords had in mind, and whether any of their agendas would be a fraction as expensive as Barack Obama’s.

Maybe the clown who wrote this “Christian Nation” book could get a blurb from Bob Filner, field marshal in the Democrat War On Women.  He could write something about how he’d like to handle that Palin broad.  Or are the people playing footsie with this lunacy going to tell us it’s not a War On Women offensive when a sick fantasy about Republican women gets published?
