Go Forward — In the Right Direction

On the heels of the conservative movement’s enormous victory in Wisconsin, all eyes will now be focused on the special election in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District this Tuesday. This represents another opportunity to elect a principled conservative.

Jesse Kelly is a former Marine who served in Iraq and is now working as project manager for his family’s construction business.  Kelly lost to former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in 2010 by a mere 4,000 votes.  As many Americans know, Giffords was tragically shot by a madman in 2011 and vacated the seat earlier this year to continue her recuperation.

The race is shaping up to be a referendum on Obamacare and the failed policies that have led to our terrible economic situation.  Ron Barber, the Democrat in the race, is being backed heavily by Nancy Pelosi and other liberal Democrats trying to save the seat in what would be a devastating defeat.  Pelosi could plow ahead with her retirement plans; a Democrat loss in AZ-8 would all but end her pipe dream of a renewed liberal majority in the U.S. House of Representatives and a return to the position of Speaker of the House.

Citizens United Political Victory Fund, which backed Kelly as far back as his 2010 primary election, is heavily invested in the race.  We launched a district-wide television ad that took on Obamacare and Ron Barber’s horribly unpopular stance to keep it on the books.  Jesse Kelly is a true outsider who would come to Washington to shake up the failed establishment.  He understands and supports the economic principles that promote optimism and growth.  Similarly, Kelly knows that Obamacare is hurting small businesses in both Tucson and the country as a whole.

With a potential win next Tuesday by Jesse Kelly, coupled with Governor Walker’s resounding win in the recall election last Tuesday, the possibility of a double loss is sending a shiver down the spine of Obama’s already shaken campaign in Chicago.  As liberals love to do, they are looking for a scapegoat, and the historic Citizens United v. FEC decision by the U.S. Supreme Court is that bright shiny object of distraction.  I find it extremely amusing that the loony Left is using Citizens United as their foil. The Citizens United decision has brought more speech into the national discussion, which must really scare Democrats used to the liberal media being able to dominate and control the message.

In the wake of the Wisconsin recall, the “Lean Forward” MSNBC anchors were virtually in tears because of Walker’s hefty victory. They just do not get that America is fundamentally a center-right country and that Governor Walker’s policies of cutting the size of government and taking on the public sector unions fit into that mold.  It’s simple, Americans are responding to common sense solutions.

Walker’s victory was a seminal moment for the conservative movement because we beat back the unions and their millions of dollars on their own turf. This victory will give other governors the confidence to seek similar reforms. We must not rest, and that is why it is incumbent upon us not to let up and to do all we can to help Jesse Kelly next Tuesday.  Please go to his website at www.votejessekelly.com to learn more about his story and to support him.

We need victories in two key elections to start the summer.  The momentum will be on our side going into the fall if we prevail.  Let’s follow the Obama campaign’s advice and go “Forward” – in the Right direction.
