War on Cops: Ambush Threat in Cleveland

In a tense national atmosphere where antagonism between police and some black Americans has been ratcheted up by the Black Lives Matter movement, and recent murders of police officers have made headlines nationwide, a Police union President now says there is a credible threat against Cleveland law enforcement.

Fox 8 Cleveland reports:

The Cleveland Division of Police isn’t commenting on the situation, but Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association President Steve Loomis said they are taking the information very seriously. He said it involves criminals attempting to provoke officers while riding ATVs and motorcycles.

“The word is on the street that they’re going to kick a door on a policeman’s door and entice them to get into some kind of chase,” Loomis said.

During and/or at the end of the chase, the criminals would then shoot at officers.

Cleveland–which will play host to next year’s Republican Nationl Convention–has seen recent incidents of attacks against law enforcement. Last week, officers in Cleveland in a marked police car were fired on.

As Breitbart News reported, earlier this summer following a Black Lives Matter convention in Cleveland, a mob of activists surrounded a police car, stopped lawful police activity, and intimidated a white reporter because of his race.

Union President Loomis also told Fox 8 he hopes “national leaders will begin speaking out against the threats on officers’ lives.”

President Obama made notable public comments about the deaths of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown, but so far has failed to make significant statements about the death of police officers.
