Bill and Hillary Clinton Get Paid Millions By Drug Companies

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill have taken millions of dollars from the drug companies that she is spending Tuesday disparaging.

Clinton is in Iowa rolling out her new plan to lower drug prices, which she says she can do by allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices with companies. Clinton would also force pharmaceutical companies to invest a “sufficient amount” of their profits in research and development and more stringently regulate their advertising practices. CNN’s headline bills the policy pivot as “Hillary Clinton to take on drug companies.”

Take on drug companies? Do you know how much money she’s gotten from them?

Hillary Clinton made close to a million dollars in paid speeches alone to drug companies just last year. She took $335,000 from the Biotechnology Industry Organization, grabbed $225,000 from the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, and pocketed $250,000 from the Drug Chemical & Associated Technologies Association.

Bill Clinton’s haul since 2012 has also been massive. He accepted $200,000 from the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association and $200,000 from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.

Bill Clinton was also recently the keynote speaker at the June 2015 conference Klick Ideas Exchange in Philadelphia, which was co-sponsored by the Biotechnology Industry Association, which was hosting its annual convention in Philadelphia.
