A movement of thousands of pro-life Floridians will hold a press conference Thursday to address the growing concern that Republican Gov. Rick Scott has not fulfilled his promises to their community on pro-life issues.

Florida Family Policy Council (FFPC), led by its president, John Stemberger, plans to launch a statewide and national campaign to defund Planned Parenthood.

Breitbart News received a letter Stemberger sent last week requesting action from Scott. Thus far, he states he has received no response or acknowledgement from Scott’s office.

In his letter, Stemberg writes that other states – such as Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana – have made the decision to terminate their Medicaid contracts with Planned Parenthood in the wake of videos exposing the abortion provider’s practice of selling the body parts of aborted babies. Planned Parenthood and the ACLU, however, have filed lawsuits against these states, and the Obama administration has also threatened action against them.

Stemberger and his group are urging Scott to eliminate Planned Parenthood’s federal Medicaid and Title X funding.

“As Governor of the great state of Florida, you have the clear legal authority to terminate Medicaid contracts with unqualified providers of services,” Stemberger states in the letter. “As Governor, you also have a moral duty to do so given Planned Parenthood’s egregious conduct.”

“The pro-life and pro-family community that supported the governor in the last two elections must have their voices heard on the urgency of this matter,” Stemberger continued in a press release. “We will be announcing our plans to launch a campaign to ensure their voices are heard.”

FFPC is a non-profit corporation and is one of 38 other state-based policy councils around the country that are associated with Focus on the Family.

Breitbart News reached out to Scott’s office and expects to hear from his staff on Thursday morning.
