Hillary Clinton Said Nothing About the Economy in Her Speech

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — When Bill Clinton ran for President in 1992, his unofficial campaign motto was: “It’s the economy, stupid.” But his wife, Hillary, failed to describe any economic policies in her Democratic National Convention speech.

In her address to the Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday night, formally accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination for president, Clinton said the word “economy” ten times, but did not mention any economic plans.

And when she did mention the economy, most often — three times out of ten — she did so in the context of legalizing millions of illegal aliens.

Here are the ten times Clinton said the word “economy” in her speech:

  1. Instead, we will build an economy where everyone who wants a good paying job can get one. [How?]
  2. And we’ll build a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants who are already contributing to our economy!
  3. A country where the economy works for everyone, not just those at the top. [How?]
  4. Our economy is so much stronger than when they [Barack Obama and Joe Biden] took office.
  5. And I’ve heard from so many of you who feel like the economy just isn’t working.
  6. I believe that our economy isn’t working the way it should because our democracy isn’t working the way it should.
  7. I believe that when we have millions of hardworking immigrants contributing to our economy, it would be self-defeating and inhumane to kick them out.
  8. Comprehensive immigration reform will grow our economy and keep families together — and it’s the right thing to do.
  9. Let’s make sure this economy works for everyone, not just those at the top. [How?]
  10. But Trump, he’s a businessman. He must know something about the economy.

Not one of those examples mentions economic policy.
