Senator John McCain injected himself into the controversy between Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Khizr Khan Monday. His primary opponent, former Arizona state Senator Dr. Kelli Ward, immediately called McCain out for falling for the “cynical political stunt cooked up by the Clinton Establishment.”
In a statement provided to Breitbart News, Dr. Ward rips both Clinton and McCain.
“The Khan controversy is a cynical political stunt cooked up by the Clinton Establishment, and, sadly, John McCain has fallen right into it.” She adds, “McCain’s statement today makes clear that he really wants Hillary Clinton in the White House, and his tepid ‘support’ for Trump is only disingenuous pandering.”
“As the military wife of a colonel who has served 32 years in the Air Force, I sympathize with the Khans for the loss of their son, an American hero who sacrificed his life for our country,” she states. She goes on to say:
However, the Khans’ anger should be directed against those who sent their son into an unnecessary war, like Hillary Clinton and John McCain, whose reckless policies and fuzzy Utopian ideals have destabilized the Middle East and triggered a massive refugee crisis, which they want to import into the U.S. to fatten up the welfare rolls. Donald Trump was publicly against the Iraq War and wants to keep Islamist-infiltrated refugees out of our country without proper security screening.
Despite technically belonging to opposing parties, McCain and Clinton have a longstanding cozy relationship. McCain released a statement early Monday praising the father of the fallen soldier and attacking the Republican nominee of his own party.
“In recent days, Donald Trump disparaged a fallen soldier’s parents,” McCain writes in the statement, adding:
He has suggested that the likes of their son should not be allowed in the United States — to say nothing of entering its service. I cannot emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement. I hope Americans understand that the remarks do not represent the views of our Republican Party, its officers, or candidates.
Since the release of McCain’s statement, details of the Khans’ connections to the Middle East and the Clinton Foundation have come to light. As Breitbart News reports:
Khizr Khan, the Muslim Gold Star father that the mainstream media and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been using to criticize Donald J. Trump, has deep ties to the government of Saudi Arabia—and to international Islamist investors through his own law firm. In addition to those ties to the wealthy Islamist nation, Khan also has ties to controversial immigration programs that wealthy foreigners can use to essentially buy their way into the United States—and has deep ties to the “Clinton Cash” narrative through the Clinton Foundation.
With early voting set to begin in Arizona on Wednesday for the August 30th primary, the McCain campaign suffered a major setback when another candidate, Alex Meluskey, dropped out of the race to allow the anti-McCain vote to unify behind Dr. Ward. Despite Donald Trump’s convincing win in the Arizona presidential primary, McCain continues to jab at the Republican nominee.
“Arizona is watching,” McCain continued in the statement. “It is time for Donald Trump to set the example for our country and the future of the Republican Party. While our Party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us.”
