Moms Demand Founder Uses Ohio State Car, Knife Attack to Push Gun Control

Shortly after news of the attack on Ohio State University’s campus began seeping out, Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts began referencing it as a justification for gun control.

Moms Demand’s Watts did this via two gun control-related tweets. Here is the first:

About an hour later, she tweeted:

The first reports on the Ohio State attack included accounts of witnesses who said they heard gunshots. CNN spoke to sophomore Wyatt Crosher, who said, “My roommate and I heard about three or four gunshots from across the street, and soon after we heard a bunch of police and ambulances pull up across the street.”

Once the suspect was killed, Ohio State University president Michael Drake held a press conference in which he explained the attacker had used a car and a knife rather than a gun. In that same press conference, OSU Director of Public Safety Monica Moll indicated the shots students heard were fired by the OSU PD officer who killed the suspect.

One of Watts’s Twitter followers confronted her with this once all the facts were known and asked, “Will u now call 4 National knife registry and background checks at Williams & Sonoma?”

Watts responded by tweeting:
