President Donald Trump and Melania Trump hosted a White House event to honor military mothers and spouses, who were were eager to show their appreciation for their commander-in-chief and the first lady.

“She’s become a very, very popular first lady!” Trump said as he introduced his wife to the group of over 300 military mothers and spouses.

In response, the group let out cheers and whoops of praise.

“I’m seeing all those stories, and they love Melania,” Trump said.

The first lady praised the mothers in the room for their dedication to their country, their families, and their spouses.

“Mother’s Day, which is this Sunday, is celebrated just one time per year,” she said. “I don’t know about all of you, but I think mothers should be celebrated each and every day!”

President Trump also earned a round of applause after he reminded them that he signed a big pay raise for their families in the most recent budget agreement.

“Your love, resilience, and courage uplifts our heroes and, indeed, our nation,” the president said. “We are forever in your debt.”

The president signed an executive action to promote military spouses in the federal government.

“Military spouses have already shown the utmost devotion to our nation, and we want to show you our devotion in return,” he said.

Senior Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway was present at the event, as well as Ivanka Trump and Karen Pence.
