Paramount Pictures released the latest trailer for its upcoming sci-fi thriller Ghost in the Shell on Monday.
The film — based on the classic sci-fi manga of the same name — stars Scarlett Johansson as The Major, the part-human, part-cyborg leader of the Section 9 special ops task force charged with hunting down the world’s most dangerous criminals.
Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) directs off of a script from Jamie Moss (Street Kings). Michael Pitt and Juliette Binoche co-star.
The film came under fire on social media during its casting stages in April, when some critics accused the production of “whitewashing” the Asian lead character by casting Johansson in the role.
Ghost in the Shell opens March 31.
