Report: Shots Fired at Naval Medical Center San Diego **UPDATE** False Alarm

**UPDATE** Authorities now say that reports of a shooting came from a single source who claimed to hear shots fired, according to CBS Los Angeles.

Three shots were reportedly fired at Naval Medical Center San Diego Tuesday morning, buildings were put on lockdown, and occupants were advised to “run, hide or fight.”

Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) posted online Tuesday at 8:07 AM:

**!ATTENTION!** An active shooter has just been been reported in building #26 at Naval Medical Center San Diego. All occupants are advised to run, hide or fight. All non-emergency response personnel are asked to stay away from the compound, located at 34800 Bob Wilson Drive, San Diego, CA 92134

The shooter is believed to be in building 26. Buildings 2, 3, and Pediatrics were on lock down according to recent Fox 5 News reports but have since been lifted. No injuries have yet been reported.

A statement was released from the Navy according to Fox 5:

According to initial reports of a single witness, at approximately 8 a.m. this morning three shots were reportedly heard in the basement of building 26, a combination gym/barracks, at the Navy’s Medical Center Balboa Park facility.

Police have confirmed that NMCSD officials reported shots fired. NBC 7 reported that California Highway Patrol officers were seen entering the military hospital at approximately 8:30 a.m. Patrol vehicles from additional agencies were also reported streaming into the area. Naval Base Point Loma has also been reported as on lockdown. People have been told to shelter in place.

Three nearby schools are on lockdown including San Diego High, Garfield High and Roosevelt Middle schools according to Fox 5. Parents have been advised to stay away.
