Poll: Clinton Leads Trump by 26 Points in California

A national poll released on Monday shows Hillary Clinton with a 26-point lead over Donald Trump in California.

The survey conducted by Survey USA and issued by Southern California News Group and KABC/Eyewitness News shows Clinton with 56 percent compared with Trump at 30 percent.

Last month, Breitbart News reported that in California, Clinton led Trump “by the staggering margin of 58% to 33%, though that lead fell to 49%-29% when third-party candidates Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party) and Jill Stein (Green Party) are included in the poll questions.

According to SurveyUSA, “[t]he low-water mark is currently held by George Herbert Walker Bush, who got 33 percent of the popular vote in California in a three-ways contest in 1992.”

The Orange County Register points out that the senior Bush was the last Republican to win California in 1988. The Register further notes that the poll lists approximately 7 percent of likely voters as being undecided about who they will vote for on November 8. That is “double the number of undecided voters found when the previous SurveyUSA poll was conducted, 17 days ago, just after the first presidential debate.”

(The poll was conducted between October 13-15 and surveyed 725 likely voters from throughout the state. It also has a 3.7 percent margin of error.)
