VARNER, Ark. (AP) - A psychologist with the Arkansas Correction Department has been fired for allegedly having sex with an inmate, officials said. The department did not name the 54-year-old woman because the matter is still under investigation. Spokeswoman Dina Tyler said Thursday the psychologist had sex with the inmate in her office at the Cummins Unit on Monday.
It is illegal for a corrections employee to have sex with an inmate and consent is not a defense, officials said.
