TOKYO (AP) - Japan is set to ban all North Korean ships from Japanese ports as part of additional sanctions against the communist regime over its declared nuclear test, the National Public Safety chief said Wednesday.
National Public Safety Commission Chairman Kensei Mizote said following an emergency security meeting late Wednesday that the government had decided to impose additional sanctions, including a total ban on North Korean vessels.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki was expected to announce the sanctions later Wednesday. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was also scheduled to meet the press.
