US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held telephone talks Wednesday as the Jewish state unleashed fierce air strikes on Gaza, Israel’s ambassador to Washington said.
“We’ve been closely coordinating and communicating with the United States government,” the envoy, Michael Oren, told CNN, saying Netanyahu spoke with Obama “about an hour ago.” The US National Security Council confirmed the call.
