FC Copenhagen will meet hosts Hamburg in Sunday’s final of the pre-season Nord Cup after the Danish champions’ 2-1 win over Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg in Saturday’s semi-final.
Czech midfielder Jan Polak gave Wolves a 1-0 lead on 40 minutes, but Copenhagen’s Thomas Kristensen converted a penalty on 45 minutes before Iceland’s Rurik Gislason hit the 54th-minute winner for the Danish league champions.
Hamburg later booked their place in the final after beating Bundesliga new boys Eintracht Braunschweig 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out as the other semi-final finished goalless after extra time.
Braunschweig, who finished runner up in Germany’s second division last season to earn promotion, will play Wolfsburg on Sunday as a curtain-raiser before the final.
