A French soldier wounded in a failed commando raid to free a hostage in Somalia has died, a rebel military spokesman said Monday.
“The French soldier who was part of the invasion to Somalia died (from) the injury he sustained,” Shehab spokesman Abdulaziz Abu Musab told AFP by telephone.
The French military operation Saturday to free a French hostage held by the Shehab since July 2009 was a failure, with another French soldier killed and the fate of the hostage unclear.
