DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 24 (UPI) — Ford Motor Company announced three recalls Wednesday — two safety recalls and one compliance recall.
The first safety recall involves more than 88,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, model years 2013-15, that have a fuel pump control module defect, the automaker said in a news release.
“In the affected vehicles, the fuel pump control module could fail, which may cause an engine to not start or stall. In some cases, the engine could stall without warning while driving and without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of a crash,” Ford said.
Included in the recall are Ford Taurus and Flex models with 3.5 liter engines, and Lincoln MKS and MKT models with the same engine. An Interceptor version manufactured for police is also included.
The second recall involves 2015-16 Ford Transit models to replace faulty fuel injection pumps in their 3.2-liter diesel-equipped engines. About 2,500 of these vehicles are included in the recall.
Ford said metallic contamination may cause these vehicles to stall while driving.
The final recall is a safety compliance recall for about 23,000 2017 Ford Escape compact sport-utility vehicles to update power window software. The configuration of the present software poses a risk of injury, Ford said.
No injuries have yet been reported from any of the recall-affected items, which Ford will replace at no cost.
Earlier this month, Ford recalled about 830,000 vehicles — also including 2013-15 Escapes — due to a potentially dangerous door latch defect. That recall affected several other popular models, including the Mustang and Focus.
