2nd child's body found in Tenn. stream

DELANO, Tenn., Jan. 29 (UPI) —

The body of a second child who drowned when the canoe she was in with four siblings and her father capsized was pulled from a Tennessee stream, officials said.

Stephen Lofty, director of the Polk County EMA and West Polk Fire and Rescue chief, said the body of Helana Alley, 7, was found in the flooded Conasauga Creek in Delano about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported.

She was located about 2,000 feet from where the family’s canoe tipped over Jan. 16. The body of her 6-year-old brother, Lazarus, was recovered last Thursday, but the search continued for her father, Nick Alley, the newspaper said.

Three other Alley children escaped the floodwaters.
